Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X Review

Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X Review

Expert Adviser- Akash Ghosh

In the previous years a huge number of Smartphone companies emerged from “ nowhere “, companies like Karbon, Micromax, Xolo and some more have entered the huge world of the Smartphone industries and have made a huge name for themselves and they now rank by the top Smartphone companies like Apple, Samsung and Nokia. But Spice is not at all far from these Smartphone giants and there new release “ Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X ” can also make them reach at the same level like the other leading companies so let’s see what they have this time.

Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X Review

Design-

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X looks almost similar to all the other Smartphones which we already have around us. Its cover is made of plastic though its weight is much more than normal smartphones with plastic covers and can sometimes make one feel uneasy if he/she holds it for a long time.

Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X has a removable rear panel actually made of metal with a plastic cover. The front panel looks similar to the other smatphones, the edges are rounded so it makes it easy to hold the phone. The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X features a 5 inch display screen at the front and a 1.3 megapixels front facing camera with three captive buttons namely Settings, Home and Back in the front, though the buttons are not always backlit and can cause problem in locating the buttons in dark. It also features an 8 megapixels camera with a flash light at the back. The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X also has a notification red light which glows when there is a miss call or a message.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X come with 148.5×78.9×10.4mm dimensions, it has a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm audio port, the power key is located at the right side whereas the volume rocker is located on the left side of the phone.

The back cover covers the battery chamber, the dual SIM card slots and the Micro-SD card slot, one cannot remove the SIMs without switching off the device because the card slot is located just adjacent to the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X’s battery.

On an overall basis the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X looks nice and stylish.

Display –

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X features a 5-inch display that has a resolution of 480×854 pixels (FWVGA) with a pixel density of 233ppi. The display is affordable as compared to the price, the display is not very sharp like other high class Smartphones. The display is also a bit dull and the display screen of Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X is very reflective and is also prone to finger prints.

The viewing angles of Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X were also not good and there were slight distortions while viewing videos and images though the touch response is really good compared to the other features.

Camera-

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X features an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear 8 megapixels camera took decent photos though there was a little bit loss of details. The photos clicked with the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X were good enough to upload on social networking sites but were not up to the mark so that it can be used for professional purpose.

The pictures taken in dark were very dull and were not at all sharp though the flash light could make up the lows and click more or less decent pictures.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X’s camera can also record VGA videos of 640×480 pixels though the video quality is not good and the sound recorded also gets distorted.

The 1.3 megapixel front facing camera of Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X can be used to click self pictures and can become useful sometimes.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X Camera App provides a lot of shooting options like HDR, Panorama, smile shot, landscape and face-detection. The app also allows us to adjust sharpness, saturation, hue, brightness etc.

Software-

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 out-of-the-box. The interface of Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X is highly modified and one couldn’t believe at the beginning that it was running on Android.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X’s lock-screen features 4 different panes which can be easily changed later on. It does not provide the normal Android home screen but instead provides a custom home screen with custom layout similar to the one of the iPhone. The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X provides nine home screen panels in which you can add apps though Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X does not support widgets in the home screens.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X’s notification tray features a settings option, a clear all notifications button, with an expandable notifications option. The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X features the similar setting toggle options that are found in other Android phones, for quick access to airplane mode, battery status, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, data connection, data usage, audio profiles, brightness etc.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X also offers a lot of different pre-installed apps like Facebook, Numbuzz, Twitter, WhatsApp and Black Berry Messenger (BBM). The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X also features Gesture controls for ease to use.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X provides free 2GB of cloud storage accompanied by the protection from Netqin Antivirus for the first few months. It also has QuickOffice pre-installed to quickly edit Microsoft document files on the go.

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X comes with the “ Power Saver “ facility which helps to minimize the Battery and Processor consumption while it’s screen is locked for five minutes.

According to me the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X features a lot of things that are very useful and in modern days like this, it becomes very important for us to have these apps around us.

Hardware

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle runs on a dual-core 1.3GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. Despite of the processor speed and low RAM on the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X, it feels very responsive in using.

However, the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X’s browser sometimes becomes slow in rendering  pages, and it can be often found that the heavy graphic games like Temple Run 2, Nun Attack and Plants Vs Zombies 2 also lag the device sometimes.

The experience of playing some popular but not so heavy graphics games like Fruit Ninja, Subway Surfers and Angry Birds on the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X was quite good.

Considering the fact that the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X comes with a 512MB of RAM it is not surprising that the multi-tasking experience will be disturbing. It includes a 4GB inbuilt storage out of which roughly 2GB is user-available though it supports expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card.

The call and sound quality of the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X was really nice. The phone features a dual GSM+GSM SIM functionality though it only supports 2G Networking and not 3G.

Full HD videos cannot be played on it and the Video player supports only .AVI and .MP4 formats only.

The Hardware facilities were not bad but could have been better as compared to its price, though one can easily have fun with what it already has.

Battery-

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X packs an 1800mAh battery which can support the device for about one and a half days (or a little bit more) with 1 to 1.5 hours of talktime with push mail being activated, Music plying, playing some games, Facebook and messaging on and not to forget the Youtube video streaming. The phone was usually hooked to Wi-Fi with GPRS on.

On an average the Battery life was excellent !

Price-

Now the main part comes here “The Price” OK, the Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X has been tagged with a price tag of Rs. 6,499 which is really considerable for such a Smartphone with fully loaded apps and hardware facilities.

Though I believe that the price is perfect but I also think that it might also be reduced a bit so that it can be fair for both the seller and the consumer.

Advice-

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5X is really a good Smartphone which also fits in the budget of one easily. The phone also has a lot of features and I think it could be a good phone for one who doesn’t want to spend much but still wants to have a Smartphone.

Thank you for reading :).

Xolo Play T1000 Review

Expert Adviser- Akash Ghosh

XOLO has been making Quality Smartphones since it has stepped in the Smartphone Industry and had made the first Smartphone which was powered by Intel processors. But it was just a few days ago when XOLO announced to list another unique Smartphone, Yea and I am sure that you are talking about that only but first I will like to inform you that this Smartphone is the first ever Smartphone in the world that has been powered by NVIDIA Tegra3 processor , So..... You can imagine of the Graphics that You will get So why wait let's see " What is Xolo Play T1000 ? "....

 Design-

The Xolo Play T1000 inherits the simple design of the other common Smartphones found in the market. Though the Smartphone doesn't feature any hardware buttons but there are 3 backlit captive buttons namely Settings, Home and Back at the Front panel. The whole front panel is covered with a glass sheet below which the backlit captive buttons are present.
The Back Panel has been a good choice as it provides a better grip than many other Smartphones.
The Back Panel covers the Battery Compartment where a battery of 2000mAh and SIM card slots with micro-SD card slots placed below the Batter. On the Right side the Volume Rocker and the Screen Lock/Power button is placed whereas the Micro-USB port and the headphone jack is placed right at the top.

At the Front panel, speaker grills are present right above the Display Screen with the Front Cmaera and at the back a Rear camera with a LED flash is placed with the XOLO brand name.

Overall the design of  Xolo Play T1000 is not that much catchy though we cannot " Predict a book by it's Cover " .

Display-

The Xolo Play T1000 features a 4.7-inch HD display screen with a 720x1280 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 312pixels per inch. It feature the One Glass Solution Technology. This may sound a bit low in front of some of the existing Android Smartphones but as I told you we cannot " Predict a book by it's Cover " and that's the truth because the real life experience was not that much low as it was expected.
The Viewing angles and the sun visibility of the phone was decent though the screen was reflective. The Screen was a fingerprint magnet and it would be hard time keeping the screen clean.
The graphic display was not that much sharp compared to other Smartphones.

Overall the Display was decent and I believe there maybe some changes needed with the Display.

Software-

The Xolo Play T1000 runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean out of the Box which is not the latest version and on the other hand Xolo Q700 was given a Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box so Xolo Play T1000 gets a disadvantage of this.
It has got the Basic Android Features and Interface without any " Engineering " modifications.
Like HTC Desire 600 the Xolo Play also offers the double tap app switcher option i.e. when you double tap on the backlit home button you get directed towards the app switcher with which you can manage open apps.
The lock screen and the settings menu look simmilar to the other Android Smartphone in the Market.

The Xolo Play T100 comes with some useful apps( That can be found in many other Android Smartphones )  like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk with the usual Android file manager, video player etc. With this you obviously get to run high quality games and apps as the biggest advantage of a NVIDIA Tegra processor. With another obviousness...., you can always download loads of apps from the play store for free.....

The Xolo Play T1000 has 5 customizable home screens on which you can create app shortcuts and widgets like other Android Smartphones in the market.
The Notification tray provides you with timely notifications, with that you get a toggle feature for settings like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. with shortcuts to settings and an option to clear all notifications. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Provides Xolo Play T100 with Google Now which is a virtual assistant.

The Company provides Xolo Play T1000 with some of it's special features like Xolo Care, Xolo Power and Xolo Secure which were previously found in the older Xolo Smartphones. The Xolo Power helps you to manage the battery settings and gives you the average battery life left. With this you can take measures to extend the battery life in emergencies by many ways provided to you by it. Xolo Secure as the name suggest it provides security measures to protect your Xolo Device from theft, it gives options to track and lock your Xolo Device.

Overall the software Specifications were not very unique or special but it can make a good deal.

Hardware-

The Xolo Play T100 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core NvidiaTegra3 processor with a 5th low-power core accompanied by a 12 Core Nvidia ULP GeForce.
The Xolo Play comes with a 1GB RAM and a 4GB of internal storage, out of which only 2.3GB is user accessible however one can expand the storage up to 32GB using a microSD card.
While launching apps you may experience bit of lag which is disheartening after all it being packed with a NVIDIA Tegra3 Processor.

As I told you before about the gaming experience that you can imagine, the Xolo Play T1000 stands on your expectations.... Yea the gaming experience was fantastic , you can run the normal Android games with the special high quality games especially made for the NVIDIA Tegra Devices without any disturbance.

The call quality is also good and you can run full HD quality videos of all formats including MOV and AVI .

Overall the Hardware specifications were quite good and were as expected by me.

Camera-

The Xolo Play T100 Features a 8 megapixels camera Back Side Illumination Sensor accompanied by a LED Flash. The Camera app doesn't feature any special functionality. The Pictures take by the camera were not that much sharp and the colors sometimes seemed washed, though in proper ( or rather high ) light conditions this was a bit reduced and the pictures taken were more detailed.
The camera can also capture videos at 720q HD resolution and even Full HD resolution though the videos when seen were of average quality.
The Phone also features a 2 megapixels camera which can be used for video chats and to click self-pics.

Overall I can say that this phone is not for photography though but can take decent images.

Battery-

The Xolo Play T1000 Packs a 2000mAh Battery. It can last for 12-13 hours with heavy and moderate usage including long hours of gaming,Voice calling, playing music , videos , facebook, twitter , messaging with WiFi, Bluetooth, Auto Brightness and 3G networking on.

  • The Battery can run for about a Day if Wi-Fi and gaming hours are reduced.

Overall the Battery life was also good but Very Long Hours of Gaming can effect the Battery Life.

Price-

Now is the time to announce the price of this Gaming Smartphone so why wait lets announce it ,....... The Xolo Play T1000 has been marked for a price of  Rs. 15,999 only. Yea that's the price but don't go right now please wait and see my advice at least.

Advice-

After This whole review I would like to say that this phone is a good deal for game lovers but for those who would love to have a stylish phone .... This is not for them and We cannot blame the Company as they had already declared it as a gaming Phone by Giving it the Name Xolo Play T1000. The price is satisfactory but like always we would obviously like to get this Smartphone at a lower budget for sure.

Thanks For reading and leave a comment  if you have any queries.

HTC Desire 600 Review

Expert Advicer- Akash Ghosh

The HTC Desire 600 is the first HTC Smartphone that carries on the design of HTC One but at a much low cost. So as the Price goes down you cannot dream of a HTC Smartphone with premium hardware though you get all the software facility that a Android Smartphone can give. The Desire 600 also has the Dual SIM facility too. So let's find out whether it would be a good or a bad purchase for us....!

Design-

As I had told You before that the HTC Desire 600 inherits the design of HTC One but at a much lower cost. The HTC Desire 600 is a bit different and unique from other Smartphones like it, due to it's stylish color scheme and style.

The HTC Desire 600 comes with a 4.5 inch screen with a black bezel surrounding it encapsulated in a frame with a red accent finishing. The phone sports 2 front speakers and a 1.6 megapixels front camera with two captive touch buttons namely - Back and Home buttons right below the Display Screen. A LED is buried inside the top speaker grill which blinks when new notifications come up.
The Volume Rocker is place on the right hand side whereas the Screen or the Power lock is place on the top with the 3.5mm audio jack. The USB port has been placed at the bottom for convenience( acc. to me).
At the back of the phone you get a 8 megapixels camera with a LED flash light. The battery compartment with the Micro-SIM card and the Micro-SD card slots located on the top of the battery compartment is concealed under a glossy plastic covering.

All over the Design is nice but the phone is prone to Scratches but the plastic quality used is better compared to the other  Smartphones.

Display-

The HTC Desire 600 comes with a 4.5 inch Super LCD2 qHD Screen with a resolution of 540X960 pixels  and a pixel density of  245ppi .
The display was very good enough and the graphics and text appeared to be sharp with least light reflection and with good sunlight visibility and viewing angles. Though it's a bit disheartening that the phone doesn't come with 720p display but however the display was nice ( bit better than expected).

Software-

The HTC Desire 600 runs on Android 4.1.2 Jellybean which is disappointing because it is not the latest android version but it does come with the HTC special UI named " Sense 5" which was introduced in HTC One.
You get the Blink Feed which allows you to push any notification on the home screen as per your choice. The phone also allows to push Facebook, Twitter etc. updates with Blink Feed and allows you share the update using social networks and e-mail.
One can set upto 5 Home screens including the Blink Feed and can also reduce it to one but that has to be the Blink Feed one.
The display has been brought down to flat making it a bit classic and not like the HTC One.
However it features all the software apps of the HTC One.
The phone doesn't feature the 3rd menu button which may cause some problem in handling the phone as maximum of us use Android phones with 3 buttons but still it was fun using it.
When press hold the home tab you get directed to Google Play and when you Double tap it you get directed to the app switcher.

Like the HTC One the HTC Desire 600 also allows you to restore or import information from you previous device but this also allows to transfer contacts through bluetooth for iPhone.

The HTC Desire 600 doesn't contain the TV remote app as it does not feature the IR blaster, it also doesn't feature the Kid mode which was present in HTC One.

Overall the Software backup was good but could have been better (I Think !!).

Hardware-

The HTC Desire 600 comes with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor with a 1GB RAM, and an Adreno 203 chip for processing graphics. The Phone has 8GB of internal memory which could be expanded up to 64GB using Micro-Sd Cards.
The Phone offers dual-SIM functionality with support for one 3G SIM and a GSM SIM. It offers active standby, which implies that if you're on a call on one SIM and get another call on the other one.
The Sound Quality was good but incomparable with HTC One.
The call quality was very good without any disturbance in between conversations.
Full HD videos were unable to run on HTC Desire 600.
The phone also offers FM Radio and comes with NFC functionality for transferring content with other NFC-enabled phones. It also supports the DLNA protocol for wireless streaming of media from the phone to a compatible TV or a computer.
Overall there was no lag during navigation and the apps ran smoothly, the Web browsing experience with it is also good , the default web browser allows to turn on Flash to run flash apps.
The gaming experience was also good enough but some problem was encountered with simple games like Subway Surfers but Asphalt 7 ran smoothly on it.

Camera-

The HTC Desire 600 comes with a 8megapixels rear camera with auto focus and LED flash functionality. The phone has a image-processing chip dedicated for processing the images faster with 5 level flash which automatically adjusts depending on the distance of the object.
The phone has its own Camera app giving all the features that a good camera can give. It allows different scene settings for still captures, switching between HDR, Sweeping Panorama and Anti-shake modes, and choosing the slow motion video mode.  It also allows users to put a self timer which ranges between 2 to 10 seconds, selecting the resolution, video quality, review duration, image adjustments , ISO and White Balance settings etc.
The phone takes good pictures in daylight but at dark the pictures taken appear grainy.
The Front 1.6megapixels also takes decent pictures and can be used for Video calling.

Overall the Camera functionality of the phone is decent .

Battery-

The HTC Desire 600 comes with a 1860 mAh battery. The Battery lasted for about 11 to 12.5 hours with a midium and heavy usage including 2 hours of calling, facebook, Twitter , Games, apps, the Wi-Fi was turned on this while.

Overall the Battery Life was also Good.

Price-

After this review you are surely willing to know it's price wright ? and for that .... The HTC Desire 600  has been Marked For a Price Of  Rs.26,000  only !!

Advice-

After this review I would like to say, "This phone gives a lot of Functionality which is why it is worth buying but after reviewing it's price I believe that it may not be a profitable buy for some whose pockets are not that much loose". Yea that's what I think about it. The Price of this phone should have been marked somewhere between Rs.18,000 to Rs.20,000. But still you get the Guarantee because of the Company. So it may be a good pick for some and may not be for others.

Thanks for reading , and please comment if you have any suggestions :) .

Nokia Asha 501 Review

Expert Advicer - Akash Ghosh

There is no need to tell what NOKIA is as everyone knows that it is one of the best and reliable mobile manufacturers. One of the recent Smartphones (Except Lumia Series) that NOKIA is currently producing is one of the best sellers in India- " Asha Smartphone series ", after this success they have extended Asha list with another Smartphone under the same heading which is said to be a lot more sleeky in a very low price. Let's see if it can come up the expectations of everyone.

Design-

In this modern age Smartphones are becoming bigger and bigger some even have a 6 inch and the user have to take precautions to handle them safely I mean these smartphones are not for use but for style but Nokia has made it's new Asha 501 Smartphone for real work as it is very compact with the dimension of 99.2X58X12.1 mm only. The phone feels very light when you hold it actually it weighs only 91 grams .
The Design of this new comer is kept the same as of the lumia series making it look very cute and sleeky. At the front a 3 inch screen and a back button occupies the whole space and at the back there is the battery compartment in which the battery, the Micro-SD cards and 2 Micro-Sim cards  are placed. The Back panel is exchangeable i.e. you can choose a different colored panel if  you get bored with the old one. The Second Micro-Sim and the Micro-SD cards can be removed without switching of the phone. You also get the 3.2 Mega Pixels camera at the back and at the top you get a USB port, a 3.5 mm audio port and a 2.5 mm charging port .
Overall the design is very nice and looking at the price of this the design rocks.

First look (Visuals)

Hey guys Please don't only watch the video but also read the review too....

 Display-

The Nokia Asha 501 comes with a 3 inch touch display screen. the 3 inch captive display screen comes with a 240X320 pixels Resolution and 133 PPI pixel density. This 3 inch screen also has brightness control, RGB Stripe and double tap wake up gesture. The touch response is good but still sometimes a bit of lag may be experienced. The screen has good viewing angles and is readable in sun , this also has a proximity sensor.

Software-

The new Nokia Asha 501 runs on a new platform named " Nokia Asha software platform 1.0" the previous Asha Phones used to run on S40(Symbian) . However The UI(user interface) of Nokia Asha 501 is same as the other Asha Smartphones but it is much more easier to use and is largely dominated by gestures like swiping.
The Fastlane feature of the new Asha 501 is one of the new installments made by Nokia for more user convenience , this shows all the apps that the user had used recently used like the " recent activity bar " that you get in your pc and obviously in the web browsers. The Fastlane appears on the home screen and gives you a easy option if navigation directly to the apps from the home screen.
There are not many personalisation options in Nokia Asha 501 and you can only change the wallpaper and the sound profiles. You also get a notification bar at the top like the previous Asha Smartphones you can pull it down to see Sim status, change WiFi settings and much more.
The Nokia Asha comes with the preloaded Xpress Browser specially created for Asha Smartphones and the browsing experience with 501 one is really nice. You get some preloaded apps like Nokia Chat, Facebook, Twitter, News Hunt etc. and games, you get 40 free EA games which you can download using WiFi. You can also download many apps and my experience with apps and games of Nokia Asha 501 was awesome and I think couldn't get anything better at it's price.

Hardware-

The Nokia Asha 501 comes with a 1GHz processor and a Ram of 64 MB with that you get 128 MB of internal storage memory which can be expanded up to 32GB using micro Sd-card. The connectivity options are - WiFi, Bluetooth and Micro-USB cable. The device doesn't provides 3G services. All over the hardware specification were far too much than any other Smartphone at it's range.
There was no problem with video surfing on youtube though the video playing experience was limited as Nokia Asha 501 doesn't supprot MP4, MOV, MKV or AVI file formats. It was unable to play 720p (or higher) video either.

Camera-

The Nokia Asha 501 comes with a 3.2 Megapixels camera without auto-focus and flash options but gives the resolution of 2048x1536, 1600x1200, 1280x960 and 640x480 with the basic features of a camera like white balance, colour settings etc.
The camera took good pictures at daylight but at night/darkness the pictures became grainy and so I would say that this not a phone that can be used for photography, but like all other features of Nokia Asha 501 it's camera also gives a lot more features compared to all other Smartphones at Nokia Asha 501's price so Asha 501 rocks !!.

Price-

You have heard me telling through out the review about the Nokia Asha 501's Price and I am sure that you are anxious to know why I am praising it for its price so now the time has come to tell you the price of this Smartphone and it is.. Rs. 5,911 but you can get it for Rs. 4,599 !! at Indiatimes Shopping site or just click here to buy it at Indiatimes.

Advice-

After This whole review I have only one thing to say " Nokia Asha 501 Rocks !! " yea this rocks, but if you don't agree then give me a Smartphone which has more features than Asha 501 at Asha 501's price and I bet you that you will find none which can compete with Asha 501.
So I think that Nokia Asha 501 would be a good investment as you get lot more than what you spend.

Thanks For reading and guy's please comment if you have any queries.
